      FAQs

      1. What is Siem Reap best known for?
Siem Reap is best known as the gateway to Angkor Wat – the world’s largest religious monument and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. But beyond temples, it also offers charming markets, great food, and a laid-back vibe.
      2. When is the best time to visit Siem Reap?
The best time is during the dry season from November to March when the weather is cooler and ideal for exploring the temples.
      3. Do I need a visa to enter Cambodia?
Most nationalities can get a visa on arrival or apply for an e-visa online. It’s quick and straightforward, but always check the latest rules for your country.
      4. How many days should I spend in Siem Reap?
3 to 4 days is ideal to explore Angkor Wat and nearby temples at a comfortable pace, while also having time to enjoy Siem Reap town.
      5. Is Angkor Wat the only temple worth visiting?
Not at all. Bayon (with its smiling faces), Ta Prohm (the “Tomb Raider” temple), and Banteay Srei are just as captivating. Each temple has a unique story and atmosphere.
      6. What should I wear when visiting temples?
Dress modestly: shoulders and knees should be covered. Light, breathable clothing is best for the heat.
      7. Is Siem Reap safe for travelers?
Yes, Siem Reap is generally safe. Just take basic precautions like you would anywhere else — especially in crowded places or at night.
      8. How do I get around in Siem Reap?
Tuk-tuks are the most popular option and easy to find. You can also ask your hotel or tour provider to arrange transport for temple visits.
      9. Is local food safe to eat?
Yes, especially in reputable restaurants or cafes. Don’t miss Cambodian dishes like Amok (coconut fish curry) or Lok Lak (stir-fried beef).
      10. Can I use US dollars in Siem Reap?
Yes, USD is widely accepted. You’ll often get small change in Cambodian riel, but you don’t need to exchange money before arriving.
      11. Are there guided tours of Angkor Wat available?
Absolutely. A guided tour helps you understand the history and symbolism behind what you’re seeing, and it’s often included in tailormade packages. At Seniworld, our local guides are carefully selected, not just for their knowledge, but also for the way they bring each story to life, making your visit to Angkor truly memorable.
      12. Can I visit Angkor Wat at sunrise or sunset?
Yes! Sunrise is a magical time to see Angkor Wat’s reflection over the lotus pond. It’s early, but definitely worth it.
      13. Are there good hotel options in Siem Reap?
Yes. From boutique hotels to 5-star resorts, there’s a wide range. Many of our trusted partners offer excellent service and peaceful surroundings.
      14. What else can I do in Siem Reap besides temples?
Explore the floating villages on Tonlé Sap Lake, visit the Angkor National Museum, try a Khmer cooking class, or stroll the vibrant night markets.
      15. Can I combine Siem Reap with other destinations?
Definitely. It’s easy to combine with Phnom Penh, or cross into Vietnam (like Ho Chi Minh City) via land or flight, and many travelers choose to add Siem Reap to their Vietnam-Cambodia tour packages.
