The rest of the day is yours to relax or explore at your own pace. Meals are not included. Enjoy a comfortable overnight stay at the hotel.
Go to Vientiane’s center and explore its wealth of culture. Stroll along Vat Phra Keo, a former royal temple with intricate carvings, then appreciate the enduring charm of Vat Sisaket, containing thousands of miniature Buddha images. The golden Pha That Luang is the nation’s most revered monument, and Patuxay, the city’s equivalent of the Arc de Triomphe, offers expansive views from its summit.
In the afternoon, let’s go to the enchanting Buddha Park, where over 200 stone sculptures create a surreal landscape. Mythical creatures, deities, and a massive 40-meter reclining Buddha fill the park with a mystical charm. Stroll through this incredible spectacle, recording its haunting yet intriguing atmosphere before heading back to the city.
Following breakfast, you’ll set off on a scenic three-hour drive to Vang Vieng. En route, visit Vang Sang, an ancient site containing Buddha images dating back to the 16th century. Several other stops at nearby villages provide an insight into the day-to-day life of the Lao people before continuing on your journey.
Once you arrive, you’ll admire Tham Chang Cave, a former shelter for early settlers. Its entrance offers nice views of rice fields and the surrounding village, and clean water flows from the mountain to the river below. Proceed to the Blue Lagoon for a relaxing swim in its blue waters. Return to your hotel and visit Nathong Tai village along the way to witness traditional weaving and see the distinctive culture of the Lao Loum and H’mong people.
Today, take a stunning 10 to 11-hour drive from Vang Vieng to Xieng Khouang, where the enigmatic Plain of Jars awaits. Along the way, appreciate the picturesque countryside and observe how villagers in the distant highlands live.
Upon arrival, check into your hotel and take a rest after your extended journey. Spend the rest of the evening at your leisure. You will have to take care of your meals. Overnight in Xieng Khouang.
Start the day at the lively morning market where the locals sell fresh fruits and local foods. Then visit the Mulberry Shop & Workshop to learn how Lao silk is made.
The trip goes on to the mysterious Plain of Jars, a vast archaeological site featuring many giant stone jars. In Muang Khoun, visit ancient temple ruins before meeting the Hmong and Tai Dam people, who are famous for their rich culture and traditions.
Return to your hotel. Dinner is on your own. Overnight in Xieng Khouang.
Bid farewell to Xieng Khouang and embark on a scenic 10-hour drive to Luang Prabang, passing through towering mountains and breathtaking landscapes. Along the way, stop at picturesque viewpoints and visit Hmong villages to glimpse local life.
A special highlight awaits at the site of a Russian tank, a relic from the Lao Army’s battles during the CIA-influenced Vietnam War. Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel and unwind. Meals on your own. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
For those who rise early, the alms-giving ceremony offers a beautiful glimpse into local traditions. Around 05:00 AM, monks in saffron robes walk silently through the streets, receiving offerings from devoted locals as the first light of day appears.
Begin your exploration at Vat Xieng Thong, an important monastery that stands as a masterpiece of Lao art and religious heritage. The journey continues to the National Museum, where French and Lao influences blend seamlessly. A visit to Wat Mai follows, before ending the day with a breathtaking sunset from Mount Phou Si.
The afternoon takes you to Kuang Si Falls, a breathtaking cascade of turquoise waters. The drive itself is a treat, passing through rice fields and charming villages. Along the way, stop at a few local communities before reaching the falls. Lunch by the water is a perfect way to recharge before taking a refreshing swim in its cool, inviting pools.
Afterward, return to your hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening at your own pace. Meals are not included. Overnight at the hotel.
Spend the day exploring Hanoi’s most well-known sites. Begin at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (closed on Mondays and Fridays), then visit his stilthouse and the ancient One Pillar Pagoda. You’ll continue your trip to the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university, and learn about Vietnam’s past.
In the afternoon, it’s time to discover the Ethnology Museum (closed on Mondays), a fascinating space showcasing the diverse cultures of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups. Later, take a leisurely walk around the bustling Old Quarter and scenic Hoan Kiem Lake. End the day with a traditional water puppet show, a unique cultural experience. Meals on your own. Overnight at the hotel.
In the morning, you’ll leave Hanoi behind and head to Halong Bay, arriving around noon. A traditional junk boat awaits to take you on an unforgettable cruise through the stunning limestone formations. As the scenery unfolds, let’s enjoy a fresh seafood lunch prepared onboard.
The afternoon is perfect for relaxing or exploring hidden corners of the bay. As the sun sets, savor a delightful dinner before settling in for the night on your charming junk.
Wake up early to see Halong Bay’s calm waters at their best. After breakfast, the boat sails through amazing limestone scenery, a last look at this natural wonder.
Appreciate the peaceful beauty of the silent islands prior to returning to Halong Harbor. Then return to Hanoi and check into your hotel. Meals are not provided.
