Introduction To Vung Bau Beach

Vung Bau Beach 2

Vung Bau Beach is a secluded coastal secret located on the northwest side of Phu Quoc Island. Located between Cua Can and Ganh Dau, this beautiful beach provides visitors the opportunity for an escape from other busier beach locations. Stretching away in arc-like forms across the shore, Vung Bau’s tranquil blue waters and soft golden sand allow for an unspoiled experience of what is increasingly the final beautiful stretch of coastline on Phu Quoc Island.

The appeal of Vung Bau lies especially in its peaceful tranquility and natural beauty. The forested hills and casuarina trees provide a lush setting that frames each sunset, sea breeze and enhances every experience. It is little surprise that Vung Bau Beach is rapidly becoming a hidden gem for visitors seeking peace, beauty and an authentic sense of connection with nature.

History Of Vung Bau Beach

According to two proposed theories, the name “Vung Bau” comes from the beach’s unique geography. The first one is based on the geography of the beach. Sat on gentle hills, this area forms a large oval-shaped bay, in Vietnamese “Vung” means “bay” or “area,” and “Bau” refers to round or oval things, like gourd.

The second theory is from a folklore that relates that wild gourd plants used to grow a lot in this area. Wild gourds may have suggested the name that the locals still enjoy using today.
