      FAQs

      1. How do I get from Ho Chi Minh City to Vung Tau?
You can take a private car (2–2.5 hours), a limousine shuttle, or a high-speed ferry from Bach Dang Wharf (about 2 hours). Ferries offer scenic views and are comfortable for tourists.
      2. Is Vung Tau worth visiting for international travelers?
Yes. It’s a quick beach escape with cleaner air than Ho Chi Minh City, known for seafood, colonial landmarks, and scenic coastline—not overly touristy.
      3. Which beach is better for swimming in Vung Tau?
Back Beach (Bai Sau) is the best choice. It has long sandy shores, gentle waves, and beachfront hotels.
      4. Can I walk to most attractions in Vung Tau?
The city is compact, but for hilltop spots like the Lighthouse or Christ the King Statue, a short taxi or motorbike ride is easier.
      5. Is it possible to climb to the top of the Christ the King Statue?
Yes. There are about 800 steps to the top, and inside the statue, a narrow staircase leads to the arms. Modest dress is required.
      6. Are there any cultural customs I should know?
Wear respectful clothing at religious sites. Tipping is not expected but appreciated. Remove shoes when entering temples.
      7. What are some popular seafood dishes to try in Vung Tau?
Try grilled squid, clams with lemongrass, crispy shrimp cakes (banh khot), and steamed fish with ginger. Many restaurants have picture menus.
      8. Is Vung Tau suitable for families with children?
Yes. There are calm beaches, parks, and kid-friendly restaurants. Some resorts offer family rooms and pools.
      9. Are there any festivals or events in Vung Tau?
Yes. The Nghinh Ong Whale Festival (August–September) is a colorful cultural event celebrating local fishing traditions.
      10. What’s the best time of year to visit Vung Tau?
Visit during the dry season (December to April) for sunny days and calm seas. Weekdays are quieter than weekends.
      11. Do I need to book hotels in advance?
On weekends and holidays, yes. Many Vietnamese travelers visit then. During weekdays, more availability is likely.
      12. Can I pay by card in most places?
Most hotels and larger restaurants accept credit cards. Carry cash (Vietnamese Dong) for taxis, markets, and smaller shops.
      13. Are taxis or ride-hailing apps available?
Yes. Grab is widely used and easy to navigate for foreigners. Taxis are also available but confirm prices or use a meter.
      14. What are some non-beach attractions in Vung Tau?
Visit the White Palace (Bach Dinh), Vung Tau Lighthouse, or take a walk on Ho May Park cable car for city and sea views.
      15. Is English commonly spoken in Vung Tau?
Basic English is spoken in hotels and tourist spots. Staff at high-end accommodations can usually assist well.

I stumbled onto Seni World travel while looking for a holiday in Vietnam. I sent a mail and was amazed at the prompt reply i got from one of their representatives. We were in constant contact on WhatsApp until we found the best package for us. Seni did all from booking hotels, arranging local flights to arranging our Visas. All tours and transport were arranged with absolutely no problems. If you ever want to see Vietnam, do make use of this Tour operator.
