Explore Hon Tre Island, The Untouched Sea Pearl In Nha Trang

Hon Tre Island, which is the largest island in Nha Trang Bay, is a tropical oasis with sandy beaches, mountain ranges, and international standard resorts. It combines natural splendor and exciting leisure activities, creating the perfect destination for your vacation.

Introduction To Hon Tre Island

Hon Tre Island 2

Being the largest island in Nha Trang Bay, Hon Tre Island, aka Bamboo Island, is a must-visit destination for any traveler seeking beauty and excitement. Surrounded by turquoise waters and cloaked with green hills, the island feels like a tropical retreat but is just a short boat ride or cable car ride from Nha Trang city.

What really sets Hon Tre apart is a combination of natural beauty and world-class entertainment. The island holds Vinpearl: a gigantic entertainment resort complex consisting of luxury hotels, water parks, theme parks, golf courses, and even an aquarium. The iconic cable car crossing the sea, sandy beaches, and fine dining all exist in a single terrain where visitors can experience thrill and tranquility. Hon Tre Island is an experience that takes you through the finest coastal beauty of Nha Trang, mingled with leisure and fun.

History Of Hon Tre Island

Hon Tre island, previously referred to as “Hon Trẻ” or “Dam Mong” in historical documents, means “the child of the lagoon.” In truth, and more appropriately under the French colonial influence and without the use of diacritics on the maps, “Hon Tre” as it has been written and is known today, eventually settled in.

For many generations, Hon Tre island has remained a small fishing village growing very slowly in isolation due to the longer time it took to cross, and many hours also for those arriving by rowing boat or ferry. The evolving remote condition changed overnight when several innovative and strategically minded Vietnamese investors in the early 2000s saw its tourism potential. In 2003, Hon Ngoc Viet – the first resort (which means Pearl of Vietnam) opened and changed the direction of tourist development and visitation to the island.

Since then, in just two decades, world-class tourism projects have changed Hon Tre into a global tourism entity. Today, the island is a combination of unspoilt natural beauty mixed with modern luxury.

Top 7 Iconic Attractions On Hon Tre Island

Hon Tre Island is more than just a tropical getaway; it’s a place where adventure, relaxation, and spectacular scenery coalesce. From exciting rides to secluded beaches, here are some of the must-see sites of the island.

Alpine Coaster

Alpine Coaster

The alpine coaster is one of the island’s signature attractions and is notable for being the first coaster of its kind in Asia, at a staggering 1,865 meters. The ride whisks you through lush hillsides, with sweeping views of the sea visible throughout the ride, all while your cart twists, turns, and accelerates along the track. Because you control your own speed, it is equally fun for thrill-seekers as it would be for those who want a slower-paced ride.

High-Altitude Slide

If you’re seeking thrills to the core, trust us, this high altitude slide will not disappoint. Flying high, soaring downhill at breakneck speed, and panoramic ocean and sky views are exhilarating. Each sharp turn offers a sudden rush of fear, exhilaration, and laughter.

You may feel you’re flying over the ocean in the taste of traveling above the water, and it’s just a fleeting experience of pure freedom while enjoying the bliss of island living. Not to mention the ride is perfect for escaping any day-to-day worries and immersing in the smiles and laughter of island life.

Dam Bay – The Mini Maldives

Dam Bay

Known as the “Mini Maldives” in Nha Trang Bay, Dam Bay is a true haven for serenity and natural beauty. The turquoise waters glisten in the sunlight, and the white sandy beaches bordered by coconut palms are picture-book glamour. In addition to relaxation, Dam Bay is famous for its snorkeling and extravagant coral reefs full of tropical fish just beneath the surface.

Bai Tru Beach

Bai Tru, with its powder-like white sand and long, peaceful shoreline, is one of the most well-known beaches on Hon Tre. What stands out is that Bai Tru feels much calmer and low-key than other busy beaches nearby. Bai Tru is also one of the best beaches to watch magical sunrises and sunsets, with the sky glistening in shades of pink, orange, and gold, and relaxing in the shade of the cove. The swimming is safe and refreshing here with soft waves, and the views are breathtaking.

Only a few meters off the beach is one of the most beautiful coral reefs, alive and teeming with colorful fish and aquatic wildlife.

Bai Soi – Natural Stone Massage Beach

Instead of a sandy beach with soft sand, the beach is covered in smooth pebbles that massage your feet comfortably while you walk barefoot in the shallows of the beach. The experience is soothing and invigorating, and walking down the beach becomes one of the unforgettable experiences in Nha Trang. The water on Bai Soi beach is clear and inviting for swimming, and the natural surroundings create a setting for you to be at ease with the natural order of things.

In this period, summer – from June to August – provides the best beach days, while also being the most popular time to visit, when the destinations are alive with crowds and activities.

Nha Trang enters its rainy season between October and November, with an occasional storm in the unpredictable weather conditions of some days. It will usually become low season, and the number of visitors will decrease. Although it rains within this period, the rains are most commonly over a short time and rarely last for an entire day. It means you will enjoy your trip a comfortable fewer visitors.

Another positive is that the majority of flights, hotels, and even the overall service become less expensive in order to garner visitors during this off-peak travel.
