There are 2 main routes to get to Cao Bang. One goes via Thai Nguyen – Bac Kan – Cao Bang, and another via Lang Son – Dong Khe – That Khe – Trung Khanh. They both will take you near Nguom Ngao Cave, where you can grab a taxi or use other local transportation to get to the cave.

By private vehicle or motorbike

For road trips with a flexible itinerary, driving from Hanoi is a great option. The distance from Hanoi to Cao Bang is about 280 km, about 7-8 hours of driving time. Leaving from the downtown of Hanoi, you will head toward Nhat Tan Bridge, then follow the National Highway 3 (QL3) in the direction of the province, Cao Bang.
