On arrival in Ho Chi Minh City, you are welcomed and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, set out on a city tour of the former capital of French Indochina, once known as Saigon, a vibrant destination known for its fascinating culture, classic French architecture, and lively mix of temples and modern skyscrapers.

Visit landmarks including the Old Saigon Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Opera House. Continue to the Reunification Palace, a site of great historical significance where the Vietnam War came to an end in 1975. Round off your day with a visit to the Jade Pagoda and Ben Thanh Market.

The evening ends with live music at a lively venue where a new generation of Vietnamese show off their style.

Arrive at Ben Tre pier and board a boat along the Ben Tre River, a tributary of the Mekong, cruising past mangroves and observing lively morning activity such as fishing and coconut cargo boats. Stop at a traditional brickwork to see how bricks are made by hand, then turn onto the Cai Son canal winding through coconut jungle to visit a coconut workshop and learn how coconuts are processed by hand.

Continue along small waterways to a rice-paper workshop and a coconut-candy workshop, sampling sweets and fruit while listening to local music. Take a tuk-tuk ride through the coconut grove, then a rowing boat along a shady palm-tree canal to a riverside restaurant for lunch. Return to Ben Tre pier by motorboat.

After breakfast, depart for the legendary Cu Chi Tunnels, an extensive underground network about 70 km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival, watch an introductory video about how the tunnels were built and how people survived the harsh conditions of wartime, then explore the tunnel systems, including the living areas, kitchens, weapons workshops, field hospitals, and hidden trap doors. Special tea and cassava, a guerrilla food during the war, are served.
